People of Fantastic Furniture
Joel
Coordinator in Assembly
Living next door to a bowling alley, Joel became known as “Joelo from the bowlo”. It’s this team camaraderie and connection that our teams value about working at Fantastic.
Starting out 7 years ago repairing lounges, Joel quickly progressed to furniture assembly eight months later.
Teamwork and work-life balance is a big motivator for Joel. “The flexibility is epic! I like starting early to have afternoons to myself. I get to play with my kids and do some chores.”
With a knack for finding new and easier ways to do things, along with his patience, Joel was an obvious fit. “Showing that I could lead and train meant I could prove myself and grow professionally and personally. I felt really good, accomplished and recognised.”
A huge part of Joel’s role is keeping safety and well-being at the top of everyone’s mind. “Safety is number one. We are always talking about it, using the right equipment and protection.” Not only is physical safety a key part of the business structure, but equally the supportive and nurturing culture that Fantastic has fostered.
“A lot of people here are very good at checking that you are doing OK mentally. I aways feel supported.”
At the end of the day – it is the people that keep Joel coming back to work with a smile each day.
“The people are easy to get along with, and easy to open up too. I like working with socially aligned and like-minded people.”
